Many people avoid visiting the dentist because they’re fearful or suffer from dental anxiety. Sedation dentistry offers an excellent way to provide a safe, anxiety-free dental experience. The main advantages of sedation dentistry include a pain-free experience, accomplishing more during a single visit and a feeling that procedures seem to take less time.
Haslet Dentist offers two types of sedation dentistry – Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) and Oral Conscious Sedation. Both options ensure maximum comfort and safety during dental procedures.
Nitrous Oxide is used as a mild sedative and is administered through a nose hood through the entire procedure. Nitrous evokes a general sense of well-being, relieves anxiety and reduces pain during the procedure. Patients may feel tingling and numbness, but Nitrous has been safely used in dentistry for many years.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Patients who choose Oral Conscious Sedation are prescribed a pill which is taken shortly before the procedure. Oral Conscious Sedation induces a moderate state of sedation which dulls the senses such that most patients can’t remember the pain, smells or noises associated with their procedure. For this type of sedation, the patient must arrange a ride home in advance.
